Daniel Swift, I’m so sorry to hear you had to do a 5 yr. prison sentence. The important thing is now you are an ex jw; so you can get on with your life and start living it without being told how to manage your time & money, and who to be friends with. You are free!

Alexandria, I did a 5 year prison sentence for not submitting to the draft and not compromising under admonishment by JW’s as a member. When I returned home I could write a book on the persecution and mistreatment by the same JW’s that admonished me to do this. Being laughed at, put down, and called a liar by the same. Um, the Samaritan was an illustration provided by Jesus. That illustration was used as an example of what people should do; the Samaritan didn’t even really exist. No, JWs do not help non-JWs in any significant way, as this column says. As for the rest of your info, what does that have to do with anything? Catholics fail to help as they should, so that somehow excuses how JWs fail to help? I single out JWs because I was raised a JWs, not a Catholic, and besides, if JWs are going to brag on their website about how much they love their neighbor, they deserve to get called up on the carpet for the real truth of that statement.

Jesus died for all of us which shows right there He did not just come to help the Jews, although the Jews needed Spiritual help badly! Jesus traveled through Tyre & Sidon, a Gentile region, and helped a Canaanite woman’s daughter who was demon-possessed. He healed a Roman centurion’s servant. He traveled through the Gentile region of the Gerasenes. He ministered in a Samaritan city (John 4). As far as JW’s only helping other JW’s; this is wrong! There are Catholic and Jewish places people can get food if needed. JW’s don’t have food banks because that would take money! They just want people to come to there meetings, drop money in their box so they can pay the bills at the KH and then send the rest to watchtower who need it to get the organization legal help because most of the elders are rectums. They only want the elder position because they are obviously “untouchable” because they are not going to get respectable men to do the job for free! I know I needed help when I was a jw (not money, but a home repair) and I don’t even want to get into how I was treated, because I couldn’t give very much money and looking back on it, I am glad I didn’t! And if they only want to help jw’s, they shouldn’t harass homes that are not jw’s! Let them beg for more money from their members!

Your example was of Jesus; not the Samaritan. Again, 99% of the people Jesus attended to were Jews. Besides, JWs also help non-JWs. What’s sad is you single out a small religion because their efforts don’t meet your standards. Where’s the billions of dollars of aid from the Catholics and Muslims? 85% of Puerto Rico is Catholic and many Puerto Ricans still do not have basic neccessities (drinking water, food, medicine) 6 months after Hurricane Irma.

And the Samaritan helped who, a fellow Samaritan? No, he MADE himself a neighbor to someone by helping them, irregardless of race, religion, culture, etc.

Your example of Jesus is very flawed. 99% of the people Jesus helped were Jews; members of the nation of Israel. Also, Jesus’ 12 Apostles primarily helped fellow Christians. JWs are following those same examples by primarily helping fellow JWs.
